Mitchell Shinn

Graduate Student, GSR

Mitchell is a 3rd year masters student in the Energy Innovation Laboratory. Mitchell completed his B.S in Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) where he graduated cum laude. While at UCR, Mitchell worked in the Laboratory for Environmental Flow and interned at the Combustion and Gas Dynamics Laboratory at the University of Connecticut. He is currently researching the application of high temperature sulfur based TES for system level implementation, and and is collaborating on the construction of a 10 kWh lab scale demonstration. Previously in the Energy Innovation Lab, Mitchell performed research on the pressure-temperature characteristics of high temperature encapsulated sulfur, and assisted on the construction and experimentation to determine the tubeside heat transfer performance of elemental sulfur. In his spare time, Mitchell enjoys swimming, sailing, and cooking.
